Ashanti Shequoiya was Douglas is famously known as Ashanti. Ashanti was birthed 13 October 1980, on the shores of Glen Cove New York United States. Ashanti is a United States singer, songwriter, and actress. The talent of Ashanti was discovered as a teen. She signed with Murder Inc. Records, in 2002. Ashanti appeared the same day on Fat Joe's What's Luv? And Fat Joe's What's Lulv? The first ever female to be atop the Billboard Hot 100's second and third positions within the United States, with Foolish on number one and What's Luv? What's Luv? Let's celebrate this momentous occasion by celebrating it together. Ashanti Douglas, or Ashanti as she's often referred to was born in Glen Cove New York in 1980. Tina Douglas' mother was a dance instructor and Ken-Kaide Douglas, the parent of Ashanti Douglas, was a vocalist. The younger Kenashia is Tia Douglas. Douglas was given the name Ashanti to honor the Ashanti Empire in which women had the power and influence. Douglas hoped Ashanti would emulate this. James was her grandfather. James was a leader in the civil rights movement along with Martin Luther King Jr. in the 1960s. Her mother discovered her talent by overhearing her sing Mary J. Blige's Reminisce. Ashanti made an appearance as an actor on Spike Lee's Malcolm X (released in 1992) as well as Ted Demme's Who's the Man? Also, she had performances in music videos like K.R.S.-Act One's MC's Like They don't know and the 8-Off's Ghetto Girl. After being courted by various record labels like Bad Boy and Jive Ashanti had a difficult time gaining success in her career as a performer. Even though she was not receiving any big breaks however, she continued to play throughout New York. Ashanti was originally a backup vocalist for Big Pun's track"How We Roll. Ashanti was also on the single by Fat Joe, What's Luv? Ja Rule's always on time and Fat Jojo's What is Luv also featured her. On her first song, Foolish the song by DeBarge's Me from 1983 is sampled. Her self-titled album first made available in 2002 via Irv Gotti's Murder Inc. record label. The Declaration is her fourth studio-album, was released in June 2008 Hey Baby was released for radio and digital on October 16, 2009. She played Latasha on Army Wives and starred in the movie Christmas in the City. Aitch was a British musician, sampled her track Rock wit U for Baby on March 10, 2022.
